EFSD/Lilly Young Investigator Research Award Programme

Research Awards of Euro 50,000 each
The objective of the EFSD/Lilly Young Investigator Research Awards is to encourage innovative research in the fields of diabetes and its complications, and to promote excellence in medical education. Applicants should have demonstrated their ability in the field of diabetes research.
Research Awards will be made in the sum of Euro 50,000 (fifty thousand) each.
Applications may be made by any paid-up member of EASD having received their highest degree (PhD, MD, DMD, DVM, or equivalent) no more than five (basic scientist) or seven years (clinician) before 1 January 2019. For clinicians holding more than one qualifying degree (e.g. MD PhD) or with a clinical specialist degree/board certification, the time since the first degree may not exceed ten years before 1 January 2019. Time periods spent on maternity/paternity leave, long-term illness or other exceptional circumstances will be taken into account, if adequate documentation can be provided upon request. Fellows may not hold a permanent appointment.
Research Awards must be held at a non-profit institution based in Europe or an associated country.
Applications for this programme must be submitted in the EFSD online Application System which is available via the MyEASD platform.
Members of EASD or owners of an account for the EASD Virtual Meeting or Annual Meeting registration, are asked to use the login details from their existing account (email address and password) to login to MyEASD and access the EFSD Application System.
Applications must be submitted in the EFSD online application system before 18:00 (CET) on the deadline date 15 February 2019.
Completed applications will be evaluated by an independent scientific committee.
Upon completion of the Awards, the recipient may be invited to present his/her research results at a scientific meeting hosted by Lilly.
Reporting Requirements and Approval of Funding
All investigators funded by this Programme are required to submit a scientific report at the end of the funding period.
Investigators must provide EFSD with copies of papers accepted for publication, and must acknowledge the support of the Programme in all written material by use of the phrase: "Supported by EFSD/Lilly".
